You may think of massage as a luxury to indulge in on occasion. But one of the most beneficial times for massage may be during pregnancy.
What Is Maternity Massage?
At the Ivy Day Spa, our massage therapists are specially trained in massage during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy. Massage therapy is a natural way for a pregnant woman to reduce stress, manage pain and discomfort, and achieve an overall sense of well being while honoring her bodies needs. A specially designed body cushion allows complete comfort and safety while lying on side or belly. Lying on your side is often the most comfortable position.
When performed by a trained therapist, not only is massage during pregnancy safe, but can be your saving grace from tense aching back and swollen feet. We do recommend consulting your doctor before reserving your appointment, and advising us what stage you are at so we may recommend the appropriate treatment.
